Internet marketing software and technologies continue to advance every year.  With the development of mobile computing and tablet computing, like the IPAD and Samsung 7, the end user is becoming more accepting of smaller screens and lower definition graphic.  In exchange for this down grade, the market is accepting more mobility, greater ease of  use, and  greater convenience.

As 2011 approaches, internet marketers and niche website owners need to adjust their business pages for the coming changes. What is important, and what are the key tips or trends for 2011 for Internet marketing?  The Internet Time Machine presents its' 2011 Internet marketing trends that every website owner or blogger should be adjusting to as consumers habits change.

#5 - Mobile  - Websites must be viewable and enjoyable in mobile.  Steve Ballmer may rue the day he poo-poo'ed sales of mobile devices claiming laptops and desktops still outsold mobile devices by a far number.  That is about to change.  Your customer and potential customer will be viewing your site on a mobile device, like a smart phone or IPHONE, or a table, like an IPAD or Samsung 7, a lot quicker than you and Steve Ballmer know.  Make sure you site is at least mobile friendly.  There are two main ways to go on this project.  Adjust your current code and create a mobile viewing alternative with very little change, or redesign a site that is basically your site, only created for mobile and smaller viewing devices.

#4 - NowRelevant.com - The fastest growing search engine now allows you to manually submit your website URL or RSS feed for indexing.  This is a huge free opportunity to get on page one of a search engine as well as helping your rankings with other engines.  NowRelevant.com is a great for bloggers and sites that update frequently as they only show information for the past 14 days.  It is a running total, so the more content your create every day, the more pages that NowRelevant.com can index.  The submission process if free and it helps build a search engine free of SPAM and SEO dummy sites.

#3 - Light Box - The days of forced optin, or forcing someone to give you an email address in order to get to your site are over.  Google hates it and so will Facebook.  Google hates it so much that it will penalize your PR ranking with them AND your quality score ranking with them if you advertise with them.  Why is this?  Time spent on page and site play a role in Google's eyes as far as the quality of user experience.  If you have a forced optin on the main URL of your site, 8 our 9 users will leave immediately.  This absolutely kills your site for PR ranking and QS ranking with Google.

As an alternative, set up Light Box, or a similar program that will be embedded on all your pages, but NOT your homepage.  Have a user give you information in exchange for value on all your other web pages, just not the homepage.  Create an optin in order for the user to read your posts or see your articles, not to just get to your site.

#2. Add the Facebook "Like" Button - We cannot harp on this one enough.  Bing is already using LIKES as part of their algorithm and when Facebook releases their own search engine, LIKES will be a big part of how results are dictated. Adding LIKES to your page is like getting links, only 20 years ago.  LIKES that are added today, will have greater value in 3 years than LIKES added then.  Why?  Because by then, just like link farms were created, people will figure out how to create LIKE farms and try to beat the system.  It is cyclical, so it will happen.  Add that LIKE button today!

#1. Optin with zip code - The value of the zip code is becoming more and more evident as companies like Groupon and social medial coupon companies hit valuations of $300 billion dollars. No longer is "just a list" or "a sales funnel of emails" going to cut it.  You must get zip codes as well.  This will create a whole new set of unique marketing and money making opportunities as you send out local offers and affiliate offers. Imagine how much more valuable your list would be to local businesses if you could break it out by zip codes and offer them chances to mail to them.    What if you could offer them a "no cost proposition" where you just shared the revenue you brought in?  Would every business in the world say "yes"?

Plus, once you ask for an email, a zip code is much less intrusive.  If you try to ask for a name or phone, you will get tons of fake answer, but a zip code, that is less revealing than an email, so you should have no problem tacking that on to the optin form.

If you hit the FACEBOOK "LIKE" button above, you will bring some traffic to your Facebook profile as you will be visible to all the fans of The Internet Time Machine.  Give this article a video a LIKE if you found it of value and enjoy some traffic on us.
