4 Things Every Internet Marketer Needs to do Before Their Website Goes Live

live websiteWhen you’re an Internet marketer, your most valuable asset is your website. It’s where you sell your products, promote your affiliate links (if any) and it’s the item that makes people aware of your brand.

When you’re getting ready to launch a new website, there’s the feeling of excitement and wanting to get things up and running as soon as possible, which is understandable. However, there are 4 things that every Internet marketer needs to do before their website goes live. These 4 things can help your chances of success before your website even exists on the web so it’s important to take notice.

If these items aren’t completed, they don’t absolutely ruin your chance of success but going into things prepared and taking a little more time is often worth it. Without further delay, here are 4 things that every Internet marketer needs to do before their website goes live:

1. Content

Most people don’t put up a website that lacks complete content, but there is the tendency to make a website live with just one or two articles on it. If this is done, the website isn’t going to be banished by any means but when the search engines first index your website, you want to let it know that your content is important right off the bat. The search engines won’t be able to tell what your website is about, let alone whether or not it’s important by just one or two articles or blog posts. Due to this, it’s a good idea to have a decent amount of content on the website when it goes live. There is no set rule, but generally speaking, 15 to 20 articles or posts would be a good start.

2. Pre-Marketing

Before you launch your new website, pre-marketing should be done to make people aware. Even though your site isn’t live yet, you can still write articles for other publications online, spread the word to those who may be interested in what you’re going to be offering and simply just put the word out there. The more people that know about your future website, the more up front interest you’re going to have.

3. Social Media Accounts

One form of pre-marketing that you can do before your website goes live is to create social media accounts for it. Setting up a Facebook and Twitter account prior to your website launching can generate interest in it and it’ll let people know what to expect once your website is up and running.

4. Finished Design and Products

Finally, the last thing that every Internet marketer needs to do before their website goes live is to make sure that your website design is completely finished and that you have any products that you want to market or sell ready to go. Putting up a website that looks half finished or that isn’t ready to market on yet can look sloppy and can lead to trust issues with Internet users right away.

Are there more than 4 things that every Internet marketer needs to do before their website goes live? Of course there are, but the 4 things above will help get you thinking about some of the steps that you need to take to make sure that you’re fully prepared.
