3 Professions That Don’t Need Internet Marketing

professionals that don't need Internet marketingIf you need brain surgery are you going to find your surgeon based on who you find first on Google? Are you going to base your decision on an advertisement you see on some random website or a social media profile? Probably not. Yet, ever since Internet marketing became a massive field, every single person and company feels that they need to hire the best Internet marketing firm and SEO firm to get their professional website to the top of the search engine rankings.

There are some professions that don’t need Internet marketing because consumer decisions aren’t based on what they find online or at least aren’t only based on what they find online. This isn’t saying that a professional in certain fields shouldn’t have a website or have a social media profile, but there’s also no sense in spending money to market to people who aren’t going to make their decision on who to use or who to go to based off a website or an advertisement they see. Let’s take a look at 4 professions that don’t need Internet marketing.

Doctors

As noted in the first paragraph, consumers need to trust medical professionals that they go to. That trust isn’t going to come from viewing a website, seeing an advertisement or viewing a social media profile on the Internet. That doesn’t mean that consumers won’t attempt to find information about medical professionals that they’re interested it; it just means that very few people are going to base their decisions on who to use on what they find online or how they find the professional online.

Lawyers

Lawyers can also be grouped in with doctors regarding the trust issue. When paying someone a ton of money to solve legal issues, decisions aren’t going to be based by advertisements a person sees online or a social media profile. Once again, consumers are apt to look up information about professionals online but they aren’t apt to make hiring decisions based on what they see online. Those decisions are more based on recommendations from friends and family, along with the consumers impression of the professional when meeting them and engaging them.

Accountants

Doctors are responsible for health, lawyers are responsible for legal matters and accountants are responsible for money. Money is a touchy subject matter with people and for good reason. Someone’s money in the hands of the wrong person can equal disaster. People are very careful of choosing who they let handle their finances, so once again, it’s not a profession where people are going to gain the trust of someone just from simply looking online.

The above information does not mean that people in those three professions shouldn’t have websites or social media profiles. They do still need a way to get found online and people do a lot of research on the Internet. The main point though is that there isn’t any sense of spending a ton of money on marketing those types of websites online because when it comes to health, legal matters and money, consumers aren’t likely to base their final decisions off of a website or social media profile.
